Want to know if it’s time for your next checkup or what you should do about your missing teeth? Then you’ve come to the right place! We receive tons of questions every day, so below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common ones. If you happen to have a question that we haven’t answered here, be sure to give us a call and ask! We’re always happy to talk dentistry with you and make sure you completely understand your care.

When should I get my regular checkup?

We invite you to visit Painesville Dental Group at least once every six months. Medical research continues to show that poor oral health can negatively impact your entire body. Regular checkups can ensure your dental wellbeing and help us catch problems early so we can affordably and quickly treat your issues.

How do I know if I have gum disease?

If your gums bleed, feel swollen, look discolored, or your teeth feel loose, you may have gum disease. If you don’t think gum disease is something to worry about … think again! According to the American Academy of Periodontology, patients with gum disease are twice as likely to have heart disease. It has also been linked to strokes, diabetes, and cancer!

Will a root canal help my toothache?

More often than not, a toothache is due to an infection in the root canal. If the tooth has become compromised, either as a result of decay or physical injury, it’s far more likely to become infected. When oral bacteria reaches the center of the tooth, you may experience pain as well as irritation that only a root canal can fix. To do this, we’ll remove any and all diseased tissue, clean the tooth, replace the tissue with gutta percha, then seal it with a crown.

Can I really get a permanent crown in a single dental office visit?

Yes! At Painesville Dental Group, we use CEREC technology to create your restoration in just one appointment. We send digital impressions to our CEREC milling machine, which creates your beautiful, natural-looking crown in about an hour.

Why do I need to replace my missing teeth?

Missing teeth may embarrass you and affect your ability to eat and speak. They also put you at a higher risk of developing gum disease and additional tooth loss. With the tooth replacement options offered by Painesville Dental Group, we can give you a brand new smile!

Are porcelain veneers a good option to cosmetically enhance my smile?

Porcelain veneers are a great cosmetic dentistry option for instantly improving a smile riddled with cracks, chips, gaps, and stains. Porcelain veneers can also cover broken and misshapen teeth. Painesville Dental Group can give you a new smile with porcelain veneers in just two visits.
