Frequently Asked Questions for Painesville, Chardon, & Jefferson Dentistry
Creating New Smiles with Restorative, Cosmetic and Preventive Dental Care
When should I get my regular checkup?
We invite you to visit our Chardon, Jefferson, or Painesville dental practices at least once every six months. Medical research continues to show that poor oral health negatively impacts your entire system. Regular checkups can ensure your dental wellbeing, and help us catch problems early. Then we can affordably and quickly treat your issues.
How do I know if I have gum disease?
If your gums bleed, feel swollen, look discolored, or your teeth feel loose, you may have gum disease. If you don’t think gum disease is something to worry about … think again! According to the American Academy of Periodontology, patients with gum disease are twice as likely to have heart disease. And gum disease has also been linked to strokes, diabetes, and cancer.
Will a root canal help my toothache?
In many cases, toothaches are the result of root canal infections. Teeth that have been comprised by decay and damage are often vulnerable to bacterial infections. Bacteria will get inside the tooth and infect the root canals, which causes pain and irritation. Generally, a root canal will alleviate the discomfort. We remove the diseased tissues and tooth root, clean out the tooth, and then seal it.
Can I really get my permanent crown in a single office visit?
Yes! At Chardon Smile Center and Painesville Dental Group, we use CEREC technology to create your restoration during a same-day appointment. We send digital impressions to our CEREC milling machine, which creates your beautiful, natural-looking crown in about an hour.
Why do I need to replace my missing teeth?
Missing teeth may embarrass you, and affect your ability to eat and speak. And missing teeth put you at higher risks for gum disease and additional tooth loss. With the tooth replacement options offered at our three dental locations in Chardon, Jefferson, and Painesville, we can give you a whole new smile!
Are porcelain veneers a good option to cosmetically enhance my smile?
Porcelain veneers are a great cosmetic dentistry option for instantly improving a smile riddled with cracks, chips, gaps, and stains. Porcelain veneers can also cover broken and misshapen teeth. All three of our offices—in Chardon, Jefferson, and Painesville—can give you a new smile with porcelain veneers.
